Tommy Hilfiger’s ‘RockCircus’ at London Fashion Week

It was the wildest end to London Fashion Week, that only the rock ‘n’ rolla of fashion Tommy Hilfiger could pull off. Held at the iconic Roundhouse, the fashion runway was morphed into a modern circus act with athletic aerial performances by NoFit State (UK’s trendy circus company) for TOMMYNOW “ROCKCIRCUS”, after which The Chainsmokers took the stage for a knockout performance to celebrate their global ambassadorship.Tommy Hilfiger TOMMYNOW Fall 2017 Runway Show - The Chainsmokers

The fashion show saw the global launch of the Fall 2017 TommyXGigi capsule (designed by supermodel Gigi Hadid who’s a global brand ambassador) and also for the first time, combined both men’s and women’s collections built around the “See Now, Buy Now” format that’s instantly available in 70 countries. Strutting the runway were models of the moment Gigi Hadid with siblings Bella and Anwar, along with Lucky Blue Smith and Joan Smalls. The front row was packed with bold-faced names like Lewis Hamilton, Neymar, Lara Stone, Poppy Delevingne, Lottie Moss, Amber Le Bon and Yasmin Le Bon among others.

Having exclusively interviewed Tommy Hilfiger on his last trip to Mumbai, here are some outtakes from that interview…

What would you say is your most marked characteristic?

I’m a bit impatient. I don’t like to sit in traffic, I don’t like to wait for airplanes, I don’t like to wait for an elevator, I don’t like to wait for food to be served when I’m hungry (laughs)… I’m just very impatient and possibly impulsive.

Who is your rock?

My wife Dee is really very, very strong and she’s a great partner.

Best piece of advice for young, upcoming designers?

Pick a spot. Follow your dreams. Don’t give up.

One thing nobody knows about you…

I have a photogenic memory – if I see something and I like it, it’s snapped into my brain.

Looking back, any regrets at all?

I really don’t have regrets. I mean, I’ve made a lot of mistakes but you learn from your mistakes.
